Well, social media is both boon and curse. It's a boon because in some cases, it is extremely useful. Whereas, it's a curse because of the disadvantages which will be written below. Social media consists of different websites which are useful to share & post information.

There are many types of social media. Few are given below :

• Bookmarking sites : These sites are used for people to search or reserve important web pages.
• Media sharing : As the name suggests, this media is used to store multimedia which include photos, videos and things like that.
• Microblogging : Microblogging is a media that allows users to exchange things like links etc.

We know that a coin has two sides, just like that everything which is invented has both advantages and disadvantages.

Social media is firstly a boon because it helps us communicate. We can speak to many using social media, many who're far away from us. We can easily connect to different people using social media, video calling has become the most easy things these days. Whereas in olden days, people used to send letters which was an extremely long process. Social media helps us to share our opinions in public, it's a free calling and messaging centre. Through social media, we can easily get news about many general things and current topics. A huge benefit of social media is that it provides us with huge amount of entertainment, like memes yea one of my favourite! So who exactly invented social media, which opened the door to everyone's happiness? The credit goes to Tom Truscott and Jim Ellis ! Thanks to them who invented the world's first usernet systems.

Social media has cons too, it was actually invented for people to work, but it's being used for various unnecessary things. People say that it's completely killing the physical interactions with people, why? Having a real life conversation with someone is being a hard thing but texting them online has become so easy. Why? Because when we are on phone's, we don't exactly need to worry about the face embarrassment. Our entire lives are literally dependent on social media, Everytime a celebrity wakes up he posts it on Instagram, Everytime someone coughs, they post it here and there xD Lord, all this is fine but the problem is that everyone's getting addicted. Addiction of any media is seriously dangerous.

I'd like to conclude that social media is both useful, and not useful. It all depends upon how much we use it. Addiction of anything is quite dangerous, so using social media limitedly is better than getting addicted.
