26.An object of height 2 cm is placed at a distance of 40 cm from the optical centre O of a convex lens of

focal length 20 cm. Draw a ray diagram to find the position and size of the image formed. Mark optical

centre O and principle focus f on the diagram. Also find the approximate ratio of size of the image to the size

of the object

F=40cm

O=2cm

1/v-1/u=1/f

1/v -1/40 = 1/20

1/v = 1/40 + 1/20

1/v = 3/40

v=40/3

v=13.34 cm

m= v/u

m= 13.34/40

m=0.335cm

m=hv/hu

m=hv/2

0.335×2=hv

hv=0.670 cm

Image formed infront of the mirror and it is diminished in size
