Yes, HF is weaker than HCl but that’s the case when you are talking about aqueous solutions and that is because of the very strong bond between Hydrogen and Fluorine that doesn’t let the acid easily dissociate in solutions.

Back to the above statement now, HF acts as a stronger acid than HCl when it is very very dry!

When HF is rigorously dried, under such conditions it becomes a !!

Rigorously dried HF has a value of -15 (which translates to 15 orders of magnitude) which means it’s stronger than a 100% solution of Sulfuric acid!

It in fact behaves as a protonating agent that is so strong that it’s useful in dissolving most metals and glass!
