Phloem is part of plant responsible for the transport of food material from leaves to the different parts of plant especially in the form of sugars ( starch ). These sugars are transported to the non-photosynthetic parts of plant like roots, etc. The food is in the form of sucrose ( made by polymerization of glucose and sucrose) is transported . The transportation usually occurs in the direction of source to sink.Transport of organic solutes from one part of the plant to the other through phloem sieve tubes is called translocation of organic solvents. It is composed of four main types:-
)Phloem sclerenchyma.
)Phloem parenchyma.
)Companion cells.
)seive elements.
