Children,
today you are going to study about SHGs.
SHG - Self Help Groups are groups of rural poor people (especially women).
The idea is to
help them organize themselves,
help them financially
Provide them work
Help them in other matters including domestic issues...
Aren't you familiar with any of the SHSs?
Don't worry you are!!!!
You have heard about *Kudumbasree* in Kerala.
Now all are happy, right?
OK...
Then here comes your activity..
*Conduct an interview with any of the കുടുംബശ്രീ member/ members. (You can talk to one or two or three )*
But make sure that you are not directly going to them.
Make a phone call and ask them about it.
There will be many such units in your neighborhood.
For that
You have to prepare a questionnaire.
Before that you introduce yourself.
Good morning auntie/ ma'am.
The purpose of your interview.
You can request them to co operate.
Then you can ask questions
Eg,:
1. What is the name of your SHG?
2How many members are there?
3 Who is the secretary....
4 How do they meet/ when?
5. Whether all the members are attending the meetings regularly?
What do they discuss in the meetings..
Whether they collect any amount?
6. If a person is absent one week, what will they do.
7. What do they do with the money they collected?
8. Whether they lend money?
9.Whether they charge interest ?
If so, how much?
10. Suppose a person borrowed didn't pay back the money, what will be the action.
11. Weather they involve in other social issues
12. Whether they are getting any financial assistance from the govt.
12. Are they able to get bank loan now ?
etc....
