Calculate the number of molecules of methane and number of C and H atoms in 25 g of Methane.

Molecular mass of CH4(methane) = amu(C) + 4*amu(H)

= 12 + 4

= 16

16g of methane has 1 mole of molecules.

Hence 25g of methane has 25/16 moles of methane.

= 1.56 moles.

Hence 1.56 * 6.023 * 10^23 molecules of methane.

= 9.4 * 10^23 molecules.

A methane molecule has 1 C atom and 4 H atoms.

No of C atoms = 9.4 * 10^23 atoms,

No of H atoms = 4 * 9.4* 10^23 atoms

= 37.6 * 10^23

= 3.7 * 10^24 atoms.

We know very well that Methane = CH4

We have to find the number of molecules of Methane in 25 g of Methane

Then , we have to find the number of atoms of C and number of atoms of H too.

Number of atoms of C = 9.41 × 10^23

Number of atoms of H = 3.764 × 10^24

The concept of Avogadro constant is used in this all .

Let us know what is. Avogadro's constant?

One mole is a collection of 6.022 ×10²³ particles, be the atoms, molecules, ions , electrons, photons or any other things.
This value of 6.022 ×10²³ is the Avogadro's number.
