we need latent heat because kinetic energy can only be produced if we provide heat.
for example,solid has low kinetic energy but if we want to overcome attraction we need more kinetic energy but without heating it is not possible.
so heating is neccessary to increase kinetic energy

latent heat does not increases the temperature but it increase the kinetic energy
No dear its written like this latent heat doesnt increase the kinetic energy of particles hence there is no rise in temperature
sometimes it can occur..but not always
Then sis if the kinetic energy of the particles increase then the temperature will keep on increasing during the phase change
