it defines a distance means if u wanna say aor tell someone about a distance which is not so far from from u.

EXAMPLE.

the cat is sitting THERE.

THEIR

it defines the relationship between something or someone.

EXAMPLE

THEIR cattles are roaming here .

there : according to Oxford dictionary

in,at, or to that place or position.
example:
‘we went to Paris and stayed there ten days’

their: Belonging to or associated with the people or things previously mentioned or easily identified.
example:
‘parents keen to help their children'.
