2) Density equals the mass of thesubstance divided by its volume; D = m/v. Objects with the same volume but different mass have different densities.

Water is denser than ice bcoz water is unusual in that it's maximum density occur as a liquid,rather than as a solid. This means ice floats on water. Density is defined as the mass per unit volume of a material. For all substances, density changes with temperature.
