HI FRIENDS.
Its said that when u increase the temperature of solid
Kinetic energy of particles increases
Speed increases
Inter particular space increases
Inter particular force decreases
And from this we can understand that the kinetic energy is the main reason of partially overcoming the force of attraction

First question
Then if kinetic energy is sufficient to overcome then why do we need latent heat????

Second question
When the kinetic energy of solid particles increases okay the space increases and force of attraction decreases

But are they still vibrating in their fixed positions till it reaches at a particular temperature where the force of attraction are completely overcomed???

First of all their kinetic energy in solid state is less as compared to energy required to overcome force of attraction. Therefore latent heat is needed to increase kinetic energy.

Devipvu2004: Hi
Devipvu2004: No i had given about what happens during phase change
Devipvu2004: Latent heat doesn't increase the kinetic energy
Devipvu2004: And hence there is no increase in temperature
Devipvu2004: Plzzz reply

1st ans: See only when heat is generated then only kinetic enery will be produced and when something reaches to its boilng or melting the temp. becomes constant and knetic energy increases due to the heat which is now being used in change in state.
2nd ans: The force of attraction decerase because of force of gravitation as gravitation is directly proportional to distance between two particles. And when the heat come to the time of change in state it breaks all the forces beacuse the kinectic energy becomes very high due the heat consumption when changing state
