please answer the following properly and briefly otherwise don't tell .
1 ) why does a piece of still sink in water but float on mercury .
2) if a bowl is formed from the same steel piece then it can float in water .why ?

he friend here concept of Archimedes principal and density is used
1. it is because steel density is higher than the water displaced by it hence it sink
2. because its density is lower than the water displaced by it and hence floats on water

we can simply understand it by density when a piece of steel is used it has a greater mass bur less volume and vice versa with second case
so as the relative density is less than 1 it will float and if grater than 1 ot will sink
so as the relative density is less than 1 it will float and if grater than 1 ot will sink
