IF LENGTH AND BREADTH OF A METAL SHEET ARE 3.124M AND 3.002M . FIND THE AREA OF THE SHEET UPTO CORRECT SIGNIFICANT FIGURES .

Area of a metal sheet is equal to the product of the lengths. So,

Area = 3.124 x 3.002

= 9.378

*(the actual product is 9.378248 but to correct significant figures, we take only three decimal places.)

( in multiplication, the result is expressed with the least number of significant figures as associated with the least precise number in the operation)
