MICROORGANISM

Microorganisms are small organisms invisible to the naked eye because of their extremely small size.  They are grouped into various groups like Bacteria, fungi, algae, protozoa and viruses. They can be seen through microscope.

USES OF MICROORGANISMS

• production of dairy products { Streptococcus bacterium is the most common bacteria used in these production}

• alcoholic drinks { prepared by fermentation}

• organic acids { generally prepared by fungi }

• help in keeping soil fertile

HARMFUL EFFECTS OF MICROORGANISMS

Many bacteria causes diseases like typhoid , diarrhea etc.

Viruses causes severe disease like AIDS , hepatitis etc.

Fungi causes disease both in plants and animals such as rust diseases in plants and fungal infect in humans.
