Solution :

Given that :

(x + 1) is a factor of polynomial 2x² + kx + 1

then, x + 1 = 0 => x = -1

So, if the x + 1 is a factor of given polynomial then the value of given polynomial will be zero at the point x = -1

2(-1)²+k(-1)+1 = 0

=> 2-k+1 = 0

=> 3-k = 0

=> k = 3

So, the value of k will be 3
