Answer: the fight over how to transfer energy over power lines.

Explanation: tesla wanted to use ac(alternating current) in order to transfer electricity in the power lines used in cities, but edison insisted that dc(direct current) to transfer electricity. Tesla won because using dc in transfer is inefficient, as there is a lot of power loss even when electricity is transfered through dc over a REALLY short distance. AC was able to minimise power loss and therefore chosen.
