EXPLANATION OF

TOPIC :)

According to what I can understand, you're studying line graphs.

Now what is a line graph?

Obviously, as suggested by its name, its a graph (pictorial representation) represented by lines.

Now in this line graph, just like any other graph, there are two asis. One is the \normalsize\underline{\blue{\mathsf{ Y \: Axis \: (vertical \: blue \: line)}}} and the other is the \normalsize\underline{\mathsf{\red{X \: Axis \: (horizontal \: red \: line)}}}

How to draw a line graph?

So, its very simple. Follow these :

  1. Check the numbers you are provided and decide a scale for your graph. For example if the numbers are 2,8,6,10 you're gonna choose the scale as 2 (2 numbers = 1cm) as its their multiple. (make sure you check all the numbers before choosing scale, there might be one hiding among the numbers! In such cases we have to find another scale, or simply use 1number = 1cm if the numbers don't reach very high)
  2. Now place the numbers according to the scale you chose on both the axis.
  3. Now look at the information you have for both the axis. Start with the smallest you can see. Lets say first information says 3km in 6mins (taking exam of distance time graph) where you've taken km in Y axis and mins in X.
  4. So now you have to make the point in your graph, where 3 and 6 come together. (look at your pic in attachment)
  5. At last mark all the numbers your given, and finally join them all with a line. The final result would be something as shown in attachment (numbers are different ofcourse)
