Explanation:

Sclerenchyma is a type of permanent plant tissue which makes the plant hard and stiff. It is found in the husk of coconut. The cells of this tissue are dead. They are long and narrow as the walls are thickened due to lignin, a chemical substance, which acts as a cement and hardens them. The sclerenchyma cells are of two types, fibres and sclereids. We get a crunchy and granular feeling when we chew pear fruit due to sclerenchyma tissue. The sclereids give a crunchy feeling to the pear fruit.
