Tolerance is “recognizing and respecting other’s beliefs and practices without sharing in them” (Neufeldt, 1994).  It can also be described as “a respect, acceptance and appreciation of the rich diversity of our world's cultures. Of accepting who we are. Tolerance is harmony in difference” (Southern Poverty Law Center). Tolerance in short is something of how much you can "take" in, (feelings or physical damage).
