Given:-

l || m

∠ABC = 40°, ∠ADF = 60°

and ∠BAC = x°

To find:-

value for x

Solution:-

Since l || m and consider AD as transversal

•°• By corresponding angle

∠ADF = ∠ACE = 60° ....(1)

now,

∠ACB + ∠ACE = 180° ......{straight line}

∠ACB + 60 = 180

∠ACB = 180 - 60

∠ACB = 120° .....(2)

now,

In triangle ABC , ∠ABC = 40° and ∠ACB = 120°

Sum of all angles of triangle is 180°

•°• ∠ABC + ∠ACB + ∠BAC = 180°

40 + 120 + x = 180

160° + x = 180

x = 180 - 160

x = 20°

The value of x is 20°.
