Tthe coordinatinates cuts y- axis

i. e. ; -x1:x2

: -1:4

use section formula to get answer

the ratio 1:4

mx2+nx1/m+n

(1×4+4×1/1+4,1×6+4×5/1+4)

(8/5,26/5)

Answer:

(0,13)

Step-by-step explanation:

The co-ordinates of the midpoint of the line joining (1,5) and (4,6) are:

(1 + 4/2, 5 + 6/2) ≡ (2.5, 5.5).

Let the coordinates of the point of intersection of the perpendicular bisector of the line segment joining the two points be (0,h).

∴ Gradient of perpendicular bisector = (5.5 - h)/(2.5 - 0) = 5.5 - h/(2.5).

∴ Slope of the line segment = (5 - 6)/1 - 4

                                               = 1/3.

As the bisector is perpendicular to the line segment then,

⇒ (5.5 - h/2.5) * (1/3) = -1

⇒ 5.5 - h = -7.5

⇒ -h = -13

⇒ h = 13.

Therefore, the perpendicular bisectors cuts the y-axis at (0,13).

Hope it helps!
