well in simple it is the speed of the charge flowing through a condutor. i.e the movement of charges throught a conductor in a unit time, which is denoted by the equation I$I=\frac{Q}{T}$ where I is the current in Ampere, Q is the charge denoted by coulomb or C (one C is equavelent of the charge of 6 X $10^{18}$ electrons and one electron has the charge of 1.6 X $10^{-19}$ coulomb ). This relation was discoverd by Andre Marie Ampere. Current is measured by a device called ammeter and is connected in series. 1 amp is equal to 1 coloumb of charge flowing throug 1 second of time
