The equation while adding x molecules of water.

(Fe+CO2) + H2O

  • Fe = ferrous = iron

  • CO2 = carbon dioxide

  • H20 = water

Adding x molecules of water :-

(Fe+CO2) + x H2O

➝ 1 Fe+ 2CO + 2x HO ----> FeCO3 + H2

The efficient and high chemoseletive

method which developed to reduce aldehydes to the

corresponding alcohols by Fe-H20-C02.

The by product forms :- FeCO3 + H2

So, The balance reaction will be :-

(Fe+CO2) + H2O FeCO3 + H2
