If we use the hint, we can prove ΔBMC ≡ ΔCNB.

(According to SAS)

*¹BM = CN

∠B = ∠C

BC is common.

(ii)

BM = CN is obvious.

(Because it is proved that ΔBMC ≡ ΔCNB.)

When AB is a base, the height of ΔABC is BM.

When CA is a base, the height of ΔABC is CN.

That ΔABC = ΔABC is obvious, and AB = AC.

Therefore, BM = CN is proved.
