=1/2+1-1/2-1

=0

Therefor our assumption was true.

x-1 exactly divides x³-ax²-13x+15, hence x=1 should satisfy the equation    x³-ax²-13x+15 leaving no remainder.

Therefor Putting x=1 in x³-ax²-13x+15

1-a-13+15=0
