hi guys , why in tally marks of higher than 5 is like 12 so why does it comes 11 . I mean to say higher than 5 is always one number less in tally marks. please tell me why 1 number is not counted in tally marks

Actually the last number is counted by putting slash on the 4 lines we write in tally marks.
For example, in the number 5, 4 lines are marked straight but fifth line cut all the four lines in the slash form.
