1. Tides refer to the rise and fall of our oceans' surfaces. It is caused by the attractive forces of the Moon and Sun's gravitational fields as well as the centrifugal force due to the Earth's spin

2. when the water surface of the moon is nearer to the sea i.e.the sun the moon and the earth is are aligned due to the attractive forces in the same direction high tides are formed.....whereas when the surface is away from the sun and moon low tides are formed.

3.Earth's rotation is slowing slightly with time; thus, a day was shorter in the past. This is due to the tidal effects that the moon has on Earth's rotation. atomic clocks show that a modern day is longer by about 1.7 milliseconds than a century ago.
