A cell of e.m.f. 'E' and internal resistance 'r' sends current 1.0 A when it is connected to an external resistance 1.9 ohm. But it sends current 0.5 A when it is connected to an external resistance 3.9 ohm.
Calculate the values E & r.

for ist case:
We have
E=I×R
E=1×(1.9+r)
for 2nd case:
E=0.5×(3.9+r)
Now solving both equations simultaneously or by getting value:
E=1.9+r. --i
E=1.95+0.5r. -ii
