Given,
Initial Velocity (u) = 10 m/s
Final Velocity (v) = 0 m/s
Time (t) = 20 s
=> v = u + at
=> 0 = 10 + a x 20
=> -10 = 20a
=> -10/20 = a
=> a = -0.5 m/s^2
Hence there is retardation.
Again,
=> v^2 - u^2 = 2aS
=> 0^2 -(10)^2 = 2 x -0.5 x S
=> -100 = -1 x S
=> S = -100/-1
=> S = 100 m
So the Distance transversed = S = 100 m
and
Acceleration = - 0.5 m/s^2
