Apple : oranges = 3:8

let the common ratio be ×

then the number of apples is 3 ×

and the number of oranges is 8 ×

when one apple removed the number of apples be (3× - 1 )

therefore ,

( 3× - 1 ) : 8× = 1 : 3

( 3 × - 1 ) / 8× = 1 / 3

3 ( 3 × - 1 )= 8×

9× - 3 = 8×

9×-8× - 3

× = 3

therefore the number of oranges is (8×) = 8 × 3

= 24

( . required answer is 24 )
