In a system, if there are no external forces and no internal forces acting on the system then the system is said to be in Mechanical equilibrium. Thermal Equilibrium: If the temp across every section is same then the system is in Thermal Equilibrium

Thermal equilibrium is the term defined for the body in the terms of temperature whereas the mechanical equilibrium is the term defined for the body in terms of forces acting in it .

A body is said to be in thermal equilibrium if and only if it's temperature is equal to the temperature of its surrounding . Which means , there is no transfer of heat between the body and the surrounding.

Mechanical equilibrium stands for the system which has net force 0 acting on it . if the body is at rest or is moving at constant velocity, it's acceleration is 0. This means the net force on that system or body is 0 . this state of the system is termed as mechanical equilibrium .
