Answer:

(1)Properties of a colloid

• A colloid is a heterogeneous mixture.

• The size of particles of a colloid is too small to be individually seen by naked eyes.

• Colloids are big enough to scatter a beam of light passing through it and make its path visible.

• They do not settle down when left undisturbed, that is, a colloid is quite stable.

• They cannot be separated from the mixture by the process of filtration. But, a special technique of separation known as centrifugation can be used to separate the colloidal particles.

Difference Between Colloid and Suspension

Definition

Colloid: Dispersion system with a liquid and solid component, with particles size between 1 and 100 nm is called colloid.

Suspension: Dispersion system with a liquid and solid component, with particles size above 100 nm is called suspension.

Particle size

Colloid: The particle size is 1-100 nm.

Suspension: The particle size is above 100 nm.

(2).Components of colloids are dispersed phase and dispersion medium.

(3).Because CuSo4 solution is heterogeneous while, milk is a colloid

that's why, it shows Tyndall effect
