Washing soda is sodium carbonate. Or cleans clothes by reacting with the oils present in the dirty clothes. This reaction causes the dirt particles to dislodge from the clothes and the cloth gets clean. Washing soda is not very efficient.

Detergents on the other hand are a mix of chemicals. They can be sodium salts like sodium lauryl sulfate. They are much more efficient in cleaning. Some detergent based washing products will contain agents to make the water soft or enzymes which helps in cleaning organic residues like food stains.

2-They cannot absorb water and hold them. Also, the presence of impurities like MgCl₂ and CaCl₂ makes them moist during the rainy seasons when the atmospheric humidity and moisture is high. Maintaining an absolutely correct detergent moisture level in detergent powders has become a critical component during production.

3-Both baking powder and baking soda are chemical leavening agents that cause batters to rise when baked. The leavener enlarges the bubbles which are already present in the batter produced through creaming of ingredients. When a recipe contains baking powder and baking soda, the baking powder does most of the leavening.
