3x-5y=17.4 .... eqn 2

multiplying 3in eqn 1 and 5 in eqn 2 and then subtracting them..

15x+6y=-6

15x-25y=87

31y = -93

y=-3

putting y=-3 in eqn 1

5x-6=-2

5x=4

x=4/5
