 private quelch knew too much yet he failed the admiration of his superior officers or his colleagus.thsi is because of his bad habits of exhibiting his superiorty. private quelch always read books to increase his knowledge and he didnot think before correcting his officers mistake.h he continuously interrupted in long lectures and advise the officers that what they should and what not.his colleagus dislike him as he always made them feel them down and he thought that he was the only one who knew all the things. he gave lectures and corrected their mistakes publicly, which embarrased them but yes he knew every thing except friendlyness and kindness.

This question is taken from 'The Man who knew too much '.

It is undoubtedly true that at first private Quelch was a hero in the eyes of his fellow soldiers. He was an extraordinary fellow.  

He had too much knowledge on all the aspects of life.  When anybody made a mistake, he would publicly correct it.  He had a  great enthusiasm and he was a tireless person . He used to borrow training manuals and stayed up late at nights reading them.

He had also impressed the surgeant  by answering correctly all the technical definitions , the parts of rifle , its uses and care.    

His salute at the pay table was a model to behold. Due to his knowledge he was nicknamed as 'professor'  by his fellow soldiers. He was respected by everyone .

He was hardworking fellow and all these things brought admiration for him.
