Answer:
INTRODUCTION:
natural fiber, any hairlike raw material directly obtainable from an animal, vegetable, or mineral source and convertible into nonwoven fabrics such as felt or paper or, after spinning into yarns, into woven cloth. A natural fiber may be further defined as an agglomeration of cells in which the diameter is negligible in comparison with the length. Although nature abounds in fibrous materials, especially cellulosic types such as cotton, wool, grains, and straw, only a small number can be used for textile products or other industrial purposes. Apart from economic considerations, the usefulness of fiber for commercial purposes is determined by such properties as length, strength, pliability, elasticity, abrasion resistance, absorbency, and various surface properties. Most textile fibers are slender, flexible, and relatively strong. They are elastic in that they stretch when put under tension and then partially or completely return to their original length when the tension is removed.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF NATURAL FIBRES:
Cotton
Jute
Coir
Hemp
Flax
SOURCES:
Natural fibers come from many sources. These sources can include plants, animals, and minerals. We are probably most familiar with plant and animal fibers from a consumer standpoint. Common natural fibers sourced from the plant kingdom include cotton, flax, hemp, bamboo, sisal, and jute.
USES:
A variety of textile products are made from cotton. In India, ‘lchadi’, a coarse hand-woven cloth, is made from cotton.
Coir is used to make several household products like rope and floor covering and also as a stuffing in mattresses and pillows.
Silk cotton is another plant fibre that is commonly used as a stuffing in pillows, sleeping bags, and life jackets.
Hemp fibers are used in the production of ropes, carpets, nets, clothes, and paper.
Flax fibers are also used in the production of rope and high-quality paper.
