first mean of the marks scored by 50 students is 39

i.e. sum of marks scored by 50 students /50=39

therefore sum of marks by 50 students = 39*50= 1950

if one of the score was unread as 23 which was 43 we only have to increase the sum by 20 which makes it 1950+20=1970

so the real mean will be 1970/50=39.40
