Why does hydrogen lose its combustibility after it combines with oxygen ?why does oxygen lose its ability to support burning?

This is bcoz in the formation of a compound, the individual properties of constituent elements are lost due to a change in the number of electrons

Hydrogen losses it's combustibility after it reacts with oxygen because -

• By reacting with oxygen the hydrogen produces water molecules.

• And we know that the individual characteristics of the elements doesn't exists in a chemical compound. After compound formation the compound gets it's independent characteristics which can be opposite than the forming elements of the compounds.

• Similarly,the hydrogen has it's independent combustibility feature which it loses when it forms water because water is not combustible at all.

Oxygen loses it's ability to support burning because -

• As mentioned above,the oxygen also loses it's independent characteristics of supporting combustion.

• Because,the formed compound water doesn't support combustion.
