High population is an advantage as well as a disadvantage. The verse for both of the comparisons are as follows :

ADVANTAGE :

High population for a country is an advantage as it boosts the resources of that particular country as people of a country make up a population and they  are the biggest resource which is called as human resource. for a country like JAPAN which doesn'nt has much of natural resources spends much over its people and is known to be one of the most developed countries.

DISADVANTAGE :

High population in a country is one of its demerit. if the population is higmh then there will be more expectations for production of grains and pulses to feed per head. when there is more demands for food supplies then the agricultural practices are to be increased and agricultural boundaries to be expanded. The expantion of agricultural boundaries leads to severe deforestation. This is how dense population is a disadvantage for the verge of a country's existence as well as developement .

High population in India is more of a disadvantage than an advantage.

Explanation:

  • India is going to become the world's largest populated country and will replace china by 2030 by 1.5 billion people. Currently, the population in India is at 1.3 billion and is growing at an alarming rate due to high growth rates and high illiteracy and low or no family planning.
  • The population of the country is the largest in Asia. Most of the young and the dependent population age group of 15 to 25 years.
  • Higher population leads in heavier and larger costs to the nation such as in terms of transportation, education and health care services and puts pressure on the nation's resources.
  • Large population size also means a larger contribution to the GDP but not true in the case of India as the standards of living and per capita income are not as high as to support the large rising population.
