Higher and higher every day, Till the mast at noon
- The sun went higher and higher every day. The mariner was telling a maritime story to the wedding guest. In that story, the mariner tells that his ship was sailing hard each day and was nearing the equator. And when the ship did reach the equator, the sun which is usually up above our head at noon was also above the mast of the ship.
- The wedding-guest was actually hypnotized by the mariner. The mariner was telling a story and the guest was thoroughly engrossed in it. While listening to the story, the wedding guest suddenly heard a loud sound of a bassoon and that arose him from the mariner's spell. He came to reality and to express that he shrugged and beat his breast.
- The loud bassoon was played to declare that the wedding bride has arrived at the wedding hall. Musicians and singers played and sang songs to mark her arrival.
