1. New education policy 2020 has been approved by Union Cabinet in July, 2020.
2. The new 'single overarching umbrella body for higher education' - Higher Education Commission of India (HECI) will replace UGC and AICTE.
3. Accredition, academic standard setting and funding will be regulated by independent verticals like National Accreditation Council (NAC), General Education Council (GEC), National Higher Education Regulatory Council (NHERC) and Higher Education Grants Council (HEGC).
