Higher oxides halogens are more stable than lower ones. Why?

higher oxide halogens are more stable than the lower ones because the higher ones are less reactive than the lower ones and also the size of the atoms are more of higher so they are less reactive and hence the oxides are MORE stable.

All the oxides of halogens are powerful oxidizing agents. These compounds are very reactive and are unstable towards heat. The stability of oxides is greatest for iodine while bromine oxides are the least stable. For a particular halogen, higher oxides are more stable than the lower ones.
