The highest covalent character is found in CaI_2.

  • According to Fajan's rule as the size of the anion increases the covalent character also increases and the ionic character decreases.
  • Here the cation that is a calcium ion is the same but the anion is different and Iodine has the largest size among them.
  • So, that's why CaI_2 has the highest covalent character and CaF_2 has the highest ionic character.
