Question :-

Highlight any five special measures taken by the government of India for the upliftment of Backward Classes.

Answer :-

The five measures taken are as follows :-

(i) Seats of government jobs and career opportunities are reserved for the backward classes , OBCs and scheduled castes as well as Scheduled tribes.

Thus they have an advantage in terms of better job opportunities than the General classes .

(ii) The Government had declared in a policy that the cut-off mark of each Backward Class be reduced for their benefit.

This will ensure that they easily get advantages in terms of passing the exams.

(iii) The Prevention of atrocities Act in 1989

This Act implies punishment to anyone who behaved atrociously with any Backward Classes.

This increases their Freedom of movement and expression.

(iv) The Government also made the exploitation of Backward classes punishable by Law.

Anyone who makes them forcible work should be punished.

(v) They get some reserved seats in Rajya Sabha as well as Lok Sabha.

This ensures them to participate in politics.
