Patol Babu was a meticulous man with a lot of perseverance. He was a very talented man who was gifted with the art of acting. He never lost faith in reality and overtook all challenges in life and faced all difficulties. He was offered a part in a movie in this story and he took it up. He was meticulous because he calculated the number of steps he needed to take before crashing into Chanchal Kumar. Similarly, he practised the variation in the dialogues with different tones. He was also a self concerned man because he ordered for a ginger tea with his wife the day before the movie was to be shot so that his voice will be loud and clear on the day of the movie. At last, he was a very grateful man and never gave up the responsibilities that were given to him even though he was a very mixed up man and a confused personality.

In Patol Babu by Satyajit Ray, I agree that Patol Babu was a practical man who comes to terms with whatever life has to offer. He struggled a lot for his living when he lost his clerical job. After that, he worked in Bengali form, opened many stores and also worked as an insurance salesman. At last, he was offered a movie role for which he rehearsed and gave his best shot. Prakrashi was a mentor of Patol Babu. When Patol Babu was offered for acting he was first taken aback as it seemed unbelievable to him to get a chance to act in the film. When he gets a monosyllabic dialogue, he was shocked yet after practicing his dialogue he realized that a true actor must make his recognition even with a single syllable. This realization occurs to him when the words of is mentor Prakrashi echoes in his mind. For him, each word spoken in the film was like a fruit which everyone does not have access to it. He remembers his mentor's words, "Remember one thing, Patol; however small a part you're offered, never consider it beneath your dignity to accept it." Such words helped him motivating and performing his role with full determination and confidence. For such a small role Patol babu drew energy, spirit, dignity, and inspiration.
