In 1829 sati was banned by the Britishers. Ishwar chandra Vidyasagar suggestion was adopted by British officials and they passed a law in 1856 permitting widow remarriage. ... In 1929 widow remarriage act was passed. Some laws were enacted by Britishers in 1795 ,1802 and 1804 and then in 1870 to stop female infanticide.
