In India, both the Central and State Governments have the responsibility of disaster management and is carried out in three steps.

  • In the pre-disaster measures stage, they keep a check and monitor  if any calamity is likely to occur. They also plan and educate people.  Rehersal drills are also carried out.
  • During the disaster, launch and rescue operations are quickly organized,  relief material is provided and people are moved to safer places.  Medical facilities are also promptly given and if required injured are sent  to the hospital.
  • In the post-disaster stage, the damage is analysed and future plans are made  to tackle such a situation. The rebuilding and reallocation activities also start.
