\huge\bold{\underline{Homologous\: Organs}}

»» These are the organs having similar structure and their anatomically is same. These are having same origin developed along different directions due to adaptation and different needs to perform some different or specific functions.

Eg:-

the fore limbs of some animals (Vertebrates) like whales , bats , cheetah and human have similar anatomical structure (i.e. humerus , radius , ulna, carpals,metacarpals and phalanges) develop differently to meet different needs and to perform different functions.

=>Organs, which have a common fundamental anatomical plan and similar embroyonic origin whatever varied functions they may perform are regarded as homologous organs.

Following are some examples of homology

  • The arm of a human
  • thewing of a bird or a bat
  • the leg of a dog
  • the flipper of a dolphin or whale.

=>Homologous organs are called as divergent evolution because  it has same appearance and different function since it have different function due to some environmental changes and through adaptations causes changes in their germ cells or gametes thus like the situation we have studied in classification we can prove that homologous organ called as divergent evolution.

hope it helps ..
