Respiration involves taking oxygen and release of carbon dioxide by the process of breathing. The taken oxygen is the utilised to oxidise chemical energy stored in the food to release energy in the form of ATP along with carbon dioxide and water. Respiration involves exchange of gases i.e. oxygen with CO2.
