The diameter of a roller is 84 cm and its length is 120 cm.It takes 500 complete revolutions to move once to level a playground.Find the area of the playground in m^2.

Given,

Diameter = d = 84cm

Radius = r = d/2 = 42cm

Length = l = 120 cm

T.S.A of cylinder = 2πrh
                           = 2 x 22/7 x 42 x 120
                           = 31680 cm²

Area levelled by 500 revolution = Area of playground

= 500 x 31680cm²

= 15840000 cm² [ change into m]

= 1584 m²

SOLUTION


Radius of the roller = 84/2 = 42 cm

Here, we'll find the Curved Surface Area ( C.S.A. ) of the roller

C.S.A. = 2 × 22/7 × r × h

=> 2 × 22/7 × 42 × 120

=> 240 × 22 × 6

=> 31680 cm^2


Area of Playground =

=> C.S.A. × 500

=> 31680 × 500

=> 15840000 cm^2

We know,

1 m = 100 cm

Therefore,

1 m^2 = 10000 cm^2

Converting cm^2 into m^2



=> 15840000/10000

=> 1584 m^2



Ans ) The area of the playground is 1584 m^2
