squaring both side we get


p²+ 1/ p² + 2 = 9


p² + 1/ p² = 7 ----------------------------(1)


now ,


p - 1/ p = ??


squaring both side


( p - 1 / p )²= p² + 1/ p² - 2




p² + 1 / p² = 7.
from equation 1



( p - 1 / p)²= 7 - 2


p -1/ p = ±√5
